Abstract
The core of medicine is the doctor-patient relationship, human interaction in the context of issues related to health and disease, the dialogue and actions of at least two human beings committed to the avoidance or suppression of pain. and suffering in its different forms. From this new perspective, it is imperative that doctors develop communication skills and narrative skills, in their attempt to recognize, interpret and act on the specific situations and stories entrusted to them by people in a state of need and vulnerability. It is not enough to know a person by his physical and mental traits, to know about his pain, symptoms and signs. It is also necessary to know where and how he lives, the sociocultural environment in which he develops his life.
